Design options
Map sun exposure at the hours you use the backyard. Orient the structure around the table or lounge arrangement rather than the property line alone. Decide whether an open roof meets the goal or whether you need to discuss a more sheltered system.
Materials and product selections
Wood and manufactured metal systems offer different proportions, finishes and care needs. For a proprietary system, review the exact model, available dimensions and installation documentation. Lighting, screens and controls should be considered before final selection.
Construction considerations
Posts and anchors require a supporting structure suitable for the loads. A patio surface is not, by itself, a footing design. For a deck-mounted pergola, evaluate the deck structure and attachment points as part of the project.
From first conversation to construction
Start with photos and priorities. Review the site and the information needed for the scope, coordinate selections and supporting design, then agree on the work before construction. Read BILDEN’s project process and keep the proposal, changes and care information together.
